The fraternal Military Order of the Stars & Bars, a non-profit 501(c) 3, non-political educational, historical, patriotic, and heritage group continues its dedication to the preservation of Southern history and remains the only heritage organization actually founded by Confederate veterans.

Missouri Society

On September 26th 1987, the first Chapter of the Military Order of the Stars and Bars was formed in this state at Keytesville, Missouri, the Brig. Gen. Francis M. Cockrell Chapter. In a month the Chapter had grown sufficiently to be granted Society status. The initial Society Constitution was presented to the membership by Gaylord P. O’Connor and ratified during the first Missouri Society Convention on September 30, 1988.

Currently the Missouri Society consist of six Chapters located throughout the state. The membership provide educational programs and community projects related to the preservation of Southern history and the members of the MOS&B bear an extra responsibility to their Confederate heritage. We strive to preserve the special place in our Southern history for the Confederate officers and civil leaders.
